Built by Medina Yacht Company in 1965
Little Otter is a much-loved classic Folkboat, offering simple, elegant two-berth cruising and the character of a traditional wooden yacht. I have owned her since 2002 and, after many happy years, the time has come to find her a new custodian.
She is carvel-built in Honduras mahogany on oak frames and is presented in good order throughout. During my ownership, she has benefited from regular care, annual winter maintenance ashore from her River Hamble mooring. Work has been carried out by me, friends and professional yards
Significant recent investment including New 14hp Nanni in 2025 together with new electrics, solar panel and a B&G Vulcan chart plotter in spring 2026, key upgrades listed below.
Recent maintenance and upgrades
2026 — New cover fitted at the end of May; electrical systems upgraded, including new B&G Vulcan 7” chart plotter.
2026 — Two 50W solar panels, charge controller, bilge pump and switch fitted.
2026 — Engine serviced.
2026 — Antifouled.
2025 — New Nanni 14hp engine fitted; approximately 30 hours’ use to date.
2025 — Wintered at Elephant Boatyard, where she received a full repaint.
2023 — All keel bolts replaced and the hull below the waterline recalked.
2022 — Existing anchor chain replaced with 30m of 8mm galvanised chain.
2021 — Insurance survey undertaken by a specialist surveyor; minor recommendations, including replacement cutlass bearing, completed. Report available.
2020 — Standing rigging replaced and lazy jacks added.
2017 — New mainsail and jib by Jeckells.
