GIDDY GAZELLE - Dehler 34
Giddy Gazelle is a stylish 34ft fast cruising yacht. The Dehler 34 was developed from the Van de Stadt DB1 ¾ ton racing yacht. Built in 1988 she has been regularly maintained and equipment upgraded. Just 3 owners from new; the current owner has owned her since 2002.
The Yanmar 2GM 20 engine is fresh-water cooled, which also provides for domestic hot water.
Mast and standing rigging were replaced by The Rig Shop in 2006. Running rigging is in Dyneema. The berth cushions have all been renewed. Cabin headlining was renewed in 2025.
She is optimised for cruising with a Harken headsail furling system; the stack-pack mainsail is loose footed. The Elvstrom genoa and laminate mainsail are in near-new condition. There are two spinnakers.
6 berths in 3 cabins and a maximum of 6ft headroom.
Cockpit Instrumentation is wireless Tack Tick.
Eberspacher diesel cabin heating system. Refrigerator.
Wheel-steering with a large spacious cockpit.
Currently on station at Poole Yacht Club.

Accommodation

The present owner has renewed all berth cushions and coverings. The V- berth forward has an opening hatch to the foredeck. Storage lockers are overhead, port and starboard. There is substantial storage beneath berths, mainly for sails at this time.
Saloon arrangement has single berths to port and starboard. A central table has folding leaves; storage is behind sliding doors and beneath the starboard berth. The table has central storage for wine and spirits. A 120l freshwater tank is located under the port cabin berth. The 2x 12 v batteries are located under the starboard cabin berth.
The chart table is to starboard and served by a hinged seat. Instrumentation and the electrical panel are immediately accessible, as are various storage lockers.
The galley area is to port, equipped with a three-burner gas hob with oven, twin stainless steel sinks and a fridge. Pressurised water is available and after the engine has been running, hot water is also on tap thanks to the fresh-water cooling system and calorifier.
A separate heads compartment is aft of the chart table and has a marine toilet, wash hand basin, a hanging locker and an opening portlight.
The owner’s cabin with a double berth, has hanging locker and storage space and two opening portlights. Pressurised hot and cold water is provided to the galley and heads.
Eberspacher diesel cabin heating is fitted.
The spacious cockpit has ample locker storage and the oversize wheel is covered with elk-hide.

Engine(s)

Yanmar 2GM diesel engine. Freshwater cooled via Martec freshwater system which also provides domestic hot water onboard. Shaft drive to Gori twin folding propellor. Engine winterised and routinely maintained by owner, but any major works carried out by Purbeck Marine, a highly respected local engineering company.

Sails & Spars

7/8 fractional rigged sloop, spar and standing rigging completely replaced in 2006.
Rod boom kicker.
Carbon fibre lightweight spinnaker pole.
Dyneema running rigging with all lines led aft to cockpit. Mainsail has lazyjack system.
Harken genoa furling system is fitted to forestay.
Mainsail, laminate construction by Elvstrom is loose-footed and in near-new condition.
Genoa, by Elvstrom is in near new condition.
No 1 and No 3 laminate construction genoas in serviceable condition
