Description

Nora Easting is a striking and unique converted humber keel barge. She was originally built for the waterways of Hull for hauling coal, before spending many years transporting grain to a mill in Gloucestershire.

She still has her original Gardner 6l3B engine, which is all fully operational.

Also fitted and operational is a large bow thruster and deck crane, both hydraulically powered by a dedicated diesel engine.

The vessel has successfully operated "off grid" for several years with 9 large solar panels, paired with a very large 48v 750ah battery bank, feeding a Victron Quattro 10k inverter. There is also a Perkins 16kva diesel generator with keel cooling.

In the accommodation space, a spacesaver stairway leads down to an open plan kitchen/living area, with a bespoke blackened stainless steel and vitreous enamelled steel kitchen, with colour matched Rangemaster LPG cooker in the same colour as the vessel exterior. The kitchen island offers a large amount of storage beneath a large oak top. There is also a built in Zanussi slimline dishwasher, Bosch full height fridge and freezer, Panasonic microwave.

The living area boasts a large double glazed hydraulically operated rooflight along with a motorised sun blind. Recently added is a Morso wood burning stove and SFL twinwall balanced flue with removable external section.

Aft of the living area (beneath the wheelhouse) there is a guest cabin with double bed and built in wardrobes.

Forward of the living area is a smaller cabin, currently set up as a snug / tv room with a 3 seat sofa.

Beside the tv room is a tiled bathroom with walk in shower, storage units and a Sanimarin macerator toilet.

In the bow of the boat is the master cabin, accessed through a watertight bulkhead door originally fitted to HMS cornwall. The master cabin has recently been reconfigured, with a king sized bed and built in wardrobes to each side of the room, along with built in Truma air conditioning.

Central heating is fitted throughout the boat and all rooms have generously specified radiators, heated by a worcester bosch oil combi boiler in the engineroom, fed by a pair of 500L steel tanks (new 2019). There is also an additional electric immersion water heater.

The wheelhouse is set up as a home office, with a generous 4m oak worktop along the stbd side, providing plenty of deskspace for 2 people to work alongside each other. Forward is the helm with hydraulic steering and original gardner engine controls and guages. The helm is fitted with an Icom VHF radio as well as an AIS Receiver for navigation.

Aft, colour coded bifolding doors open on to the aft deck, which is fitted with a bespoke hardwood table. Under the aft deck is a vast storage area, also home to the generator. This space is fitted with a Fireboy Xintex auto extinguisher.

The large engineroom is also home to the electrical systems, the boiler and a laundry facility. A Bosch washing machine and vented dryer sit immediately in front of the engineroom door for ease of access and are fitted in to a bespoke stainless steel enclosure, fitted on isolation mounts to stop any unwanted noise passing through the boat. The boiler resides in it's own steel cupboard space. There is a small work area with tool cabinet and parts bins, providing an area to carry out maintenance. The entire area is protected by a very large Fireboy Xintex auto extinguisher.

The foredeck is fitted with an Atlas hydraulic crane for launching the restored Avon Searider SR4 tender with 50hp Mercury outboard. The crane has a very large capacity and reach and will also lift motorbikes on board with ease.

Last survey out of water oct 2022. The hull was repainted with black epoxy up to the waterline and green/grey polyurethane from the waterline up. All new aluminium anodes also fitted at the same time and still in very good condition. The boat has only ever been painted with PPG Sigma Epoxy and Polyurethane products and has had scheduled repaints every other summer to keep on top of any rust starting.
