Dutch Barge Project – 30m x 2.8m – Offers Invited
Steel Dutch barge, imported from Holland approx. 8 years ago. Originally a cargo barge with a roof added — likely a Spits or Motorklipper type (still being confirmed). Currently out of the water at Cuxton, Kent, and ready for a new owner to complete the project.
Hull & Structure
Overplated in 3mm steel
Hull exterior painted in 2-part primer (some flaking, will need attention)
Interior hull coated in zinc primer with a trowel-applied coat of Black Jack bituminous coating
Roof and deck in good condition
Interior
Main salon stripped back to a clean shell with 22mm marine ply flooring laid
Wheelhouse rebuilt (a few panels still need replacing)
Windows replaced with safety glass throughout, except two at the front
Engine & Systems
Marinised Peugeot Indenor diesel inboard, sealed water-cooled with radiator/keel cooling
Engine starts and runs, propeller turns in gear
Single diesel fuel tank
240V sockets wired in the wheelhouse; ring main for the salon in place, not yet connected
No plumbing currently fitted
Original water bladder tank retained (recommend replacement)
Known issues
Unidentified rainwater leak into the engine area
Some hull paint flaking externally
A genuine project for someone wanting a Dutch barge conversion at a fraction of new-build cost. Offers invited — sold as seen. Viewing by arrangement in Cuxton, Kent.
